Who runs the show?

MEET AMY - Hi! I'm Amy, the founder and owner of Craftivate! I am a skilled and devoted artist who loves to teach. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to peruse my site today!

Education and Career - I went to New York University and graduated with a BA in Culture and Communications with a concentration in Graphic Communications Technology & Management. It's a mouth full! To simplify, I basically studied to become a graphic designer in the communications industry. After graduating in 2004, I chose to move back to my hometown, New Haven! (I love you New Haven!) With a few freelance graphic design jobs under my belt, I decided what I really wanted to do was teach. I enrolled at Southern Connecticut University to get my CT Art Education Certification. I went to school at night and worked at a financial planning office during the day. Once I earned my certification in 2007, I worked as a long term substitute in two different elementary schools. I then secured a position at a local college prep school teaching art to high school students. I spent wonderful years teaching there. But when I started a family, I left teaching and stayed home to raise my children. In 2015, after two children and four wonderful years at home with them, I longed teach again. My desire to create and passion for teaching led me to come up with the concept for Craftivate.

Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.
